(Apuleia leiocarpa), also known as Brazilian Ash, is a dense and naturally durable Brazilian timber. Its honey golden-brown color range, fine grain and moderate cost make it an attractive alternate to more expensive hardwoods like Ipe. The light color also makes it attractive for a deck that will have heavy sun exposure but will not become overly hot to the touch. A Garapa deck is resistant to rot, decay, splinters, scratches, and even fire – naturally without any chemical treatments.
